Machine Overview

The Semi-Automatic Tablet Counting and Filling Machine manufactured by Technogen Enterprise is designed for counting and dispensing tablets, capsules and compatible solid-dose products into bottles. It combines electronically controlled counting with operator-assisted bottle handling, offering a practical packaging solution for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical production environments that do not require a fully automatic container transport system.

The machine uses a bulk hopper, vibratory product feeder, rotating glass plate and product-guiding channel to deliver tablets or capsules toward a counting assembly. A cross-beam frame fibre-optic sensor detects individual products as they pass through the counting path. Counting signals are processed by the programmable logic controller until the selected count has been achieved.

A diverter head directs the counted products toward one of two bottle filling funnels. The alternate filling-station arrangement allows the product flow to be transferred between filling positions, while the operator removes a filled bottle and positions an empty container for the next count.

The specification states a counting capacity of 400–500 tablets per minute, depending on tablet size and shape, and 200–300 capsules per minute, depending on capsule characteristics. Supported product dimensions include tablets of approximately 5–12 mm diameter, pills of 3–13 mm diameter and standard capsule sizes 0 to 5, subject to suitability.

The machine incorporates an AISI 304 stainless steel body, a product hopper in AISI 316L or AISI 304 stainless steel, adjustable vibratory feeding and PLC-HMI operating controls. Two bottle-presence fibre-optic sensors prevent the counting process from continuing when bottles are absent from the required positions. An air cleaning gun is provided for routine machine cleaning.

The semi-automatic design is suited to customers needing repeatable electronic counting with relatively low capital expenditure and flexibility for operator-assisted packaging. Technogen Enterprise manufactures, supplies and exports tablet counting machinery from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

Operating Principle

The machine combines mechanical tablet feeding, optical product detection and PLC-based counting with manual bottle positioning at two filling stations.

Product Loading

Tablets or capsules are loaded into the bulk hopper. A vibratory feeding mechanism transfers the products toward the rotating glass plate and guiding assembly.

Product Arrangement

The rotating glass plate and channel guide products toward a controlled counting path to reduce overlapping during detection.

Optical Counting

As individual products pass through the cross-beam fibre-optic sensor, the sensor generates counting signals that are accumulated by the PLC.

Bottle Position Verification

Fibre-optic sensors detect whether a bottle is correctly available beneath the corresponding filling funnel. Counting operation is stopped if the required bottle is absent.

Product Diversion and Filling

The diverter mechanism directs counted tablets or capsules into the selected bottle filling funnel.

Count Completion

When the programmed quantity has been counted, the control system transfers product flow toward the alternate filling station as required.

Manual Bottle Handling

The operator removes the filled bottle, positions an empty bottle and repeats the operation. Feeding vibration and drive speed can be adjusted according to product behavior.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this machine count tablets?
A cross-beam fibre-optic sensor detects products passing through the counting path. The PLC processes these signals and controls the diverter when the preset count is reached.
How are bottles handled?
Bottles are positioned and removed manually by the operator, while the machine automatically feeds and counts products and diverts them to the selected filling funnel.
What counting speed is specified?
The machine is specified for 400 to 500 tablets per minute or 200 to 300 capsules per minute, depending on product size and shape.
Can it count different capsule sizes?
The technical specification lists capsule sizes 0 to 5, subject to suitable feeding and sensor performance.
What utilities are required?
The technical specification lists 230 V, single-phase, 50 Hz electrical connection and compressed air at 6 bar.
