Machine Overview

A Fluid Bed Dryer (FBD) is used to remove moisture from pharmaceutical granules, food ingredients and other compatible particulate materials by passing heated process air through a fluidised product bed. Technogen Enterprise manufactures, supplies and exports Fluid Bed Dryers from Ahmedabad, India, providing an industrial drying solution for facilities where batch uniformity and controlled handling are central to product quality.

Unlike a static tray drying arrangement, fluidised drying keeps suitable particles in motion as air passes upward through a perforated distribution plate. This creates significant air-to-particle contact and assists heat and moisture transfer. The supplied product documentation describes a filtered air path, heated process air, product container, blower and controlled discharge arrangements. TGFBD-30, TGFBD-60 and TGFBD-120 are specified with different batch loads, air flows, blower sizes and heating requirements. The published drying temperature range for those models is 45–80°C, subject to product and process suitability.

Fluid Bed Dryers can be engineered with SS 304, SS 316 or SS 316L construction as specified, with manual or PLC-controlled operating arrangements. Available project options include online sampling, pneumatic bag shaking and flameproof electrical configurations. Buyers should supply wet and final moisture levels, material characteristics, acceptable product temperature and the required batch cycle so an appropriate airflow, capacity and heating method can be evaluated.

Operating Principle

A Fluid Bed Dryer uses fluidisation to expose wet particles to a moving stream of heated air. Filtered process air enters below a distributor, lifts compatible material into a suspended, agitated state and carries moisture away. Drying behaviour depends on product properties, airflow, inlet-air conditions and the required final moisture.

Loading Wet Material

The operator charges the designated product container with the granules or powder batch. Material should be suitable for fluidisation, and the batch weight should fall within the chosen model's stated capacity.

Preparing Process Air

Air is drawn through the specified filtration and heating arrangement. The blower supplies the process airflow, and operating temperature is established for the material being dried.

Fluidisation and Moisture Removal

Heated air flows upward through the distributor. As the product bed becomes fluidised, particles move and exchange heat and moisture with the air stream.

Monitoring the Drying Cycle

Operating conditions and batch progression are checked against the process requirement. Online sampling may be supplied as an option for applications that call for intermediate moisture checks.

Discharge and Changeover

After the required dryness is achieved, airflow and heating are stopped according to operating procedure. The container is removed or tilted using the specified handling arrangement, and the product path is cleaned before another batch.

Process Selection Consideration

Material moisture, particle size and fluidisation behaviour determine the achievable cycle. The model and operating parameters should be specified using the product’s actual drying profile rather than only the nominal batch capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a Fluid Bed Dryer remove moisture?
Heated air passes upward through the product container and fluidises suitable particles. The moving air transfers heat to the material and carries evaporated moisture away.
Which batch sizes are included in the model table?
The provided technical table covers TGFBD-30 at 25–30 kg, TGFBD-60 at 50–60 kg and TGFBD-120 at 100–120 kg per batch.
What drying temperature range is specified?
The three documented models list 45–80°C. Actual operating temperatures must be selected for the product's thermal stability and moisture-removal requirements.
Are electric and steam heating specified?
The table contains electric-heater values for two models and steam pressure/consumption data. The heating configuration should be confirmed for the particular machine before order placement.
Is online sampling available?
Yes, online sampling is listed as an optional feature. Its form and location depend on the selected dryer and application.
