Automatic Single Head Lug Capping Machine
Automatic single-head lug capper with pneumatic-mechanical magnetic hysteresis clutch head, adjustable torque, cap elevator or vibratory feeder and No Bottle–No Cap operation.

Machine Overview
The Automatic Single Head Lug Capping Machine manufactured by Technogen Enterprise is designed for automatic application of suitable lug-type metal closures to compatible bottles and jars. Unlike ordinary continuous-thread screw caps, lug closures engage the container finish through a defined number of closure lugs, making the capping mechanism and torque setting important to reliable closure application.
The machine is intended for packaging applications involving suitable food, dairy, vinegar, pickle and other products that use lug-type closures. Its single-head automatic arrangement combines bottle conveying, synchronized starwheel indexing, cap feeding and mechanically controlled closure tightening.
The specified machine uses a pneumatic-mechanical magnetic hysteresis clutch-based lug capping head with a torque adjustment provision. This allows tightening settings to be selected according to the closure and container application, subject to proper adjustment and verification.
The machine provides an output of 30–40 bottles per minute, depending on bottle diameter and lug cap size. It is specified for bottles 22–100 mm in diameter, bottle heights 15–100 mm, and lug cap diameters 22–84 mm.
The cap feeding arrangement incorporates a cap feeder elevator or vibratory feeder, selected according to the required cap geometry. A chute-pickup mechanism is specified for presenting the lug closure to the bottle before the capping-head tightening operation.
A common motor synchronizes the conveyor, starwheel system and capping turret. The machine incorporates a No Bottle–No Cap system, starwheel safety clutch, automatic cap orientator on-off functionality and emergency-stop operation.
Additional configurations include PLC-HMI operation and a transparent safety cabinet made from toughened glass, polycarbonate or acrylic with door interlock.
Technogen Enterprise manufactures, supplies and exports automatic lug capping machinery from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, providing suitable closure-handling solutions for food processing and other applicable industrial packaging operations.
Applications
Operating Principle
The machine operates through a single-head automatic lug capping process with synchronized bottle indexing and a pneumatic-mechanical magnetic hysteresis clutch head.
Bottle Feeding
Containers enter through the conveyor and are indexed toward the capping station by the synchronized starwheel arrangement.
Lug Cap Feeding
The vibratory cap feeder or cap elevator supplies suitable lug closures toward the chute-pickup position.
Bottle and Cap Positioning
The starwheel positions each bottle at the capping station and the required lug closure is presented to the container.
Bottle Presence Verification
The No Bottle–No Cap system inhibits capping when a bottle is absent from the processing position.
Lug Closure Tightening
The pneumatic-mechanical magnetic hysteresis clutch head tightens the lug closure according to the selected torque setting.
Bottle Discharge
The capped container is released and transferred to the outfeed conveyor.
Safety Monitoring
The starwheel clutch, orientator control and emergency-stop system provide the stated protective machine functions.
